I am a third-year student on the pre-med track. I’m majoring in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology with a concentration in health humanities.

I love BCMB as a major because it offers me a structured course schedule that meets all of the prerequisites for medical school, while also giving me the opportunity to challenge myself with more advanced scientific topics. I have gotten to know the other BCMB students well since we typically share very similar class schedules.

Research Projects and Senior Thesis

I am involved with research through the Magis Honors Program in STEM and Dr. Stumpo’s lab. We do MALDI-MSI of small molecules using citrate-capped nanoparticles to increase resolution beyond what was previously possible.

I was given the opportunity to present a poster at the American Society for Mass Spectrometry’s 69th conference in November 2021 titled “Mixed Nanoparticle Matrix Materials for Mass Spectrometry Imaging of Small Molecules and Lipids."

For my senior thesis, I will be using MALDI-MSI to compare neurotransmitter and toxin levels in zebrafish larvae exposed to the neonicotinoid pesticide clothianidin at chronic, low levels reflective of those in US waterways.

Extracurricular Activities

I'm proud to be a work study student in the Sustainability Office, a member of the Royal Signers, and the founder and president of the Remote Area Medical club.

The Remote Area Medical club brings students to clinics for the uninsured and underserved in the northeastern US, as well as matches students with local service opportunities.

I am currently the service chairperson with the Health Professions Organization, and will be stepping into the role of Co-Vice President of Presentations for 2022-2023.
