The ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ is proud to be part of the City of Scranton, with its campus located just adjacent to Courthouse Square in downtown Scranton.
The Office of Community Relations seeks to help support the continued renaissance of the downtown and the vitality of the wider region of Northeastern Pennsylvania by sharing resources and information about the city with current and prospective students, faculty, staff and parents.
Since 2011, the ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ has coordinated special events and collaborations as part of its Downtown Engagement Initiative to connect the ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ and the downtown business community. Events include special walking tours, downtown dinners during Family Weekend, and the Downtown Scavenger Hunt and Electric City Downtown Nite during the fall semester. Bee's Backyard is an open-play facility that features a 57 foot play unit designed by using "open view" play elements so that parents can always keep an eye on their children. The facility includes 53 innovative play elements in the play unit, a luminivision floor, a lego wall, and a toddler area. Open 7 days/week as well as availability for private event booking.
The Lackawanna River Heritage Trail (LRHT) is part of a seventy mile multi-purpose trail system that follows the Lackawanna River. The LRHT begins at the confluence of the Lackawanna & Susquehanna Rivers in Pittston and continues north where it connects with the Delaware & Hudson Rail Trail. The City of Scranton’s largest park, Nay Aug, grants residents and visitors a touch of nature amid the city landscape. Walking trails, picnic areas, two playgrounds, two Olympic-sized swimming pools and waterslide complex number among the attractions. The Everhart Museum is also located within the park. A rock-strewn gorge and waterfalls add to the allure and have been named a National Natural Landmark.
Nay Aug Park’s David Wenzel Tree house is the first of its kind in Pennsylvania, opened on Friday, May 25, 2007. It overlooks the gorge, rising an awesome 150 feet above.
