Psychology
Class of 2019
Why did you choose Scranton?
I chose Scranton because of the tight-knit community. Attending a medium-sized university was important to me. Students foster relationships with their professors and get to know their peers in small- to medium-sized classrooms.
What did you like about the psychology major?
I loved the rigorous coursework the Psychology Department offered. As a student, you can explore the various subfields of psychology, such as clinical, social, cognitive, and developmental psychology. The professors are always available for their students and want them succeed.
How did the psychology program prepare you for the real world?
Psychology prepared me for the real world with all of the hands-on experiences. I was fortunate to participate in student research for 2 years and to obtain a clinical internship. These experiences outside of the classroom were valuable to me, as they prepared me for the responsibilities I faced after graduation.
What are you up to now?
I am attending a master’s program in Applied Psychology at Fordham ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ. I also volunteer as a research assistant for an organization that is developing an app for caregivers. I use multiple research methodologies, such as surveys and interviews, and employ data analytics to understand consumer needs.
