First Year Seminar

The First Year Seminar (FYS) at The ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ is a three-credit, required course for all students that is regularly completed in their first year. The course seeks to welcome students to the academic community at Scranton; aid students in their academic transition; introduce a content area; start students on their way to careful thinking, writing, and speaking; establish a close relationship with a professor; and to familiarize students with the ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ’s Ignatian identity and mission. As seminars, these courses are capped at 18 students and may satisfy a variety of other General Education (GE) requirements. The minimum passing grade to fulfill the FYS requirement is a C or better.

FYS in the Curriculum
