2024-2025 Break Housing

Intersession Housing

Overview

There are a number of breaks within the Fall & Spring semesters when the residence halls close.  During these breaks, students are not permitted to stay on-campus without written permission from the Residence Life Office.

  • Fall Break - housing closes at noon on Saturday, October 12th; housing opens at noon Tuesday, October 15th
  • Thanksgiving Break - housing closes at noon Wednesday, November 27th; housing opens at noon Sunday, December 1st
  • Winter Break: all housing closes on Saturday, December 14th at 6pm
  • Intersession: housing opens for Intersession students on Wednesday, January 1st (Intersession 01/02 - 01/21)
  • Spring semester housing  - housing opens at noon on Tuesday, January 21st
  • Spring Break - housing closes at 6pm on Friday, March 14th; housing opens at noon on Sunday, March 23rd
  • Easter Break - housing closes at noon on Thursday, April 17th; housing opens at noon on Monday, April 21st

 

Do you need help with transportation to the New York Metro or New England area? There is a Breakliner Bus option available exclusively to ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ students for the upcoming breaks. You can access their website for more information and to purchase tickets at .

 

Some students are expected to remain on campus for ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ commitments, others live too far away to leave for shorter breaks, and unforeseen circumstances can arise. These Individual students in need of break housing can find the application on their housing portal (instructions below). Please plan accordingly for all campus closures as permission to remain on campus is limited especially during longer breaks.

Break applications appear on the housing portal approximately 3 weeks before the break begins.  Residents will only be granted permission to stay on campus with legitimate reasons (distance, campus employment, etc.).  Reasons will require verification. This form can be accessed through :

Groups in need of break housing should have their advisor or professor send the list to res-life@scranton.edu.

 

Quincy Avenue Apartments

Please note that graduate students living in the Quincy Avenue Apartments are NOT required to leave campus housing during breaks and do NOT need to request permission to remain in housing.

The Royal Ride Shuttle

The Royal Ride will run to and from the Martz Bus Station for during certain openings and closings.  Please check the for additional instructions.

Dining options on campus are often limited or suspended during breaks.  will communicate their schedule.
